Understanding Our Commitment to Your Data
At SourceTraq, we deeply value the privacy and security of the information you share with us through our extension, web, and cloud applications. It is crucial for you to understand how we collect, utilize, and protect your information. This Privacy Policy addresses personally identifiable information ("Data") that may be collected while using the SourceTraq extension or visiting our website.
This privacy policy is applicable to SourceTraq extensions, web applications, and cloud services.
By providing personally identifiable information through SourceTraq, you consent to this privacy policy's terms and agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.
This Privacy Policy (last updated on April 02, 2025) does not apply to entities we do not own or control, or to individuals who are not part of our development team or under our authority. Please also review our Terms & Conditions.
In our commitment to security, SourceTraq prioritizes your privacy. By default, the tool does not capture or store any of your credentials. Instead, it only collects your repository URL and retrieves necessary profile information like your email address, username, and timezone directly from the integrated repository. This data is securely stored in your browser's cache to ensure it remains local.
The primary mode of connecting to repositories is through the built-in authentication mechanisms of your browser, allowing SourceTraq to leverage your existing authenticated session.
For those utilizing credential-based authentication, the tool employs a secure method to encode and locally store your credentials exclusively in your browser cache. This ensures that sensitive information stays under your control and is never transmitted externally.
Your privacy and data security are of utmost importance to us, and SourceTraq is meticulously designed with these principles at its core.
Personal Information: The only personal information we collect includes your name and email address, which is obtained when you voluntarily submit it through contact forms. We do not track or retain this information through any other means, and we do not gather additional data such as company or repository URLs. Should you contact us, your email is solely used to respond to your queries. All personal information is securely stored in your browser cache and is not transmitted outside of your browser ecosystem.
Non-Personal Information: Non-Personal Data comprises information that does not identify or allow contact with you, including demographic details (e.g., user IP addresses, country), browser types, and anonymous statistical information relevant to SourceTraq usage. Google Analytics may be utilized in this context, as the only means of collecting such data.
Google Analytics enables us to understand user engagement with different modules of the tool by providing aggregated data based on country and other factors. Starting from version 1.0, users can opt-out of Google Analytics tracking based on their preferences.
Additionally, Google Analytics assists in collecting error reports when issues arise during SourceTraq usage. These reports are vital for identifying and resolving relevant problems but typically do not contain personally identifiable data or your repository URL. In the case of HTTP errors, there is a remote possibility that certain details may be sent if the repository responds accordingly. No such instances have been identified thus far, and these error reports are retained solely for 3 to 6 months before automatic deletion.
Note: Neither SourceTraq nor its developers will be responsible for any issues arising from malware installed by users that could capture data from SourceTraq's browser cache. Users are urged to exercise caution when installing third-party software to ensure their safety.
